My dad Jacek Makowski met Andrew in 1971 when he visited US - then he lost contact. I have lived in the US and always promised my dad to find Andrew, but only few days back I found your book and realized he is my uncle's brother. It is extremely important to me to pass my email to Andrew because I and my family loved his brother - we also have precious belonging of his dad - his war front prayer book. My email is magdalena@SHSU.edu. I don't know if I would have tried again if it hadn't been. Took a long time for me to come to a place where I can look at rejections and know not everyone is going to like my writing. To realize that there are a lot of reasons for a peice to be rejected beyond that.Marie Shieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08552551785809426763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9967208.post-84837911694536730342012-04-16T07:54:39.614-07:002012-04-16T07:54:39.614-07:00I opened my small journal to submissions a couple ...I opened my small journal to submissions a couple months ago and have begun the process of rejecting authors...it is a lot tougher than I anticipated. The first was the worst (so far) in that I knew exactly what I was doing to the author. I try to make up for that fact by doing personal rejections, so far the quantity of submissions has allowed me that freedom. It relieves some of the pain.

Anyhow, I find it encouraging to read posts like this one--although I hope I never become completely inured to rejecting writers. There's something honest in feeling bad about it.Sam Xhttp://www.cosmicvinegar.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9967208.post-73020124518316243412012-04-15T05:55:20.418-07:002012-04-15T05:55:20.418-07:00Yes, it is, Stephanie, and that's the perfect ...Yes, it is, Stephanie, and that's the perfect way to look at it! And I received my first rejection letter. I knew it would happen, but it still stung. I kept telling myself it wasn't personal, just business, and tried not to get down on it. Then the next day that agent posted on their blog a bit about what they were and were not looking for. She was looking for a good romance, but had been representing dark pieces for the better part of a year and was looking for a change. Well, my romantic suspense revolves around a pretty dark world and nasty things happen. Not what she is looking for at the moment. I looked at it as a positive for me. I don't want just any agent that will represent me. I want someone that is a good fit for me, and that I, likewise, am a good fit for. Clearly her and I are not a good fit for each other right now. That is good for me to know.Stephanie McDonnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16333987293305674981noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9967208.post-69472466711040061802012-03-14T05:12:39.734-07:002012-03-14T05:12:39.734-07:00Good luck, Lynette!Good luck, Lynette!Mary Akershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05190983234403757377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9967208.post-65455524331988970782012-03-14T03:59:39.212-07:002012-03-14T03:59:39.212-07:00I often go back to the classic essay by T.
